Here is your new favourite impromptu book test! A Head Full of Books has actually replaced the Hoy book test as my go-to casual mind-reading effect.

Whilst visiting someone's home (or in a bar or coffee shop that has books on the shelves) you ask someone to select ANY book from their library or off the shelf. He opens the book to ANY page and reads the first few lines to himself while you look away.

Without touching the book you immediately reveal what he just read! It's that clean.

ZERO memory work.
Use almost ANY book, in ANY language.
NOTHING is written down by the participant or the performer.

Kane & Elsdon

Introducing a new, irregular series..

 

Back in the mid-1990s I used to meet up with Peter Kane a couple of times a week for a magic session.

One of the meet-ups was in his home town of Denton and after a few months it started to become a bit of a ‘challenge session’ each week where Peter and I would both come up with a different handling of the same trick to try out on the patrons and bar staff of the various pubs and working men’s clubs that we would frequent.  The audiences were very appreciative and almost always badly fooled. As was I! After all, Peter was a genius, there is no doubt about that.

These sessions were very fruitful creatively and I have a whole note-book of these tandem effects by the two of us which remain almost entirely unpublished. These small new eBooks are the first time that any of this Kane material had been published. Each eBook contains two handlings of the same plot, one by myself and one by Peter. They are always hugely different to one another!

XENOMORPH

A brand new release featuring the incredible Xenomorph effects.

Effect 1: The participant shuffles a deck and places it on the table. You then remove two £5 notes (or $5 bills, or €5 notes, or whatever...) from your wallet before anything else happens, as you say you will wager £10 on the outcome. The participant can see that there are NO other bank notes in your wallet. The participant turns over the top card of the deck - it's the Jack of Spades. You turn over the two £5 notes - one has 'Jack' written on it and the other one has 'Spades'.

No switch of the card or the notes. The deck can be fully examined (no dupes or gimmicks) and most importantly, you are using your regular wallet, not a gaffed one. Yes, you read that right - your regular, normal wallet!

Effect 2: Pretty much the same effect as above, but with no deck involved, just a thought of card! Yes, you read that right - no deck required. Just some bank notes and your regular wallet. The participant randomly names a card and it's written on the back of the two £5 notes.

Effect 3: Probably my favourite - the same effect as #1 but using a Monopoly token as a counter to choose the card and Monopoly money that you can give away as the prediction. And a powerful presentation that beautifully ties everything together.
