Sherlocked

I've been using variations of this effect for a long time. It's been one of my go-to effects for fooling magicians and mentalists (a noble pursuit!) as well as being an absolute mind-shock for laymen.

The basic effect of Sherlocked is this: you shuffle the deck and show it is well mixed. You then place it down in front of a spectator who freely cuts the deck and removes five cards, one of which he pockets. Card by card you read his mind, telling him the value of every single card as he thinks of them, one after the other. You conclude by naming the card he has in his pocket. Then you instantly repeat the whole thing with a second spectator! He too cuts the deck and he removes five cards (which are obviously a different five). This time he pockets one sight unseen. Once again you read his mind and identify every single card, as he thinks of them, and then as a finale you tell the audience that just as he has a single card in his pocket, so do you. You remove your card first (from an otherwise empty pocket which you can show) and then when he removes his card, it matches exactly.

One of the innovations of Sherlocked is the incorporation of a no "No" pumping system so that you never seem to get a card wrong when apparently reading the spectator's minds. I think it will become a standard handling in this kind of effect.

Dream Poker

“Did I tell you about the time I won the World Poker Tournament? No? Maybe it’s because it hasn’t happened yet! But it will, it will…”

Dream Poker casts the spectator as the one with all the answers. He reveals three irrefutable facts about something that hasn’t even happened yet! 

In effect, you claim that you recently had a dream in which you won the World Poker Tournament! As confirmation of the yet-to-happen events in this dream you write down three pieces of information – the date and the year of your future ‘win’ and the final card that completes your hand and gives you victory. 

The participant now uses his intuition to discern the date, the year and the card. Unbelievably, he is 100% correct with all three!
